Historic Charter School Authorization in Philadelphia: Congratulations to Early College Philadelphia

At InSite EFS, we are proud to celebrate a major milestone of our client, Early College Philadelphia (ECPHL). This week, ECPHL became the first charter school authorized by the School District of Philadelphia in eight years –  a landmark achievement in the city’s education landscape.

The Philadelphia School Board voted 8–1 in favor of ECPHL, signaling strong support for their innovative educational model and the extensive community engagement behind their mission.

Slated to open in Center City Philadelphia in 2026, ECPHL will serve approximately 800 students in grades 6–12. The school’s forward-thinking approach includes early college and career exposure, college-level coursework, and industry certifications – preparing students not only for graduation, but for long-term success in higher education and the workforce.

While the school will be located in the heart of the city, its impact will stretch far beyond Center City. ECPHL is committed to recruiting students from underserved neighborhoods across Philadelphia, ensuring equitable access to transformative educational opportunities.

As a firm that specializes in charter school brokerage, site selection, and advisory services, we are honored to support ECPHL on their journey to opening a campus of their own. Helping charter schools like ECPHL secure educational facilities that align with their vision is what drives our work every day.

This is more than just a facility project — it’s the foundation of a brighter future for Philadelphia’s students.
